Social Media vs Performance
Social media can quietly drain the focus, sleep, and confidence athletes need to perform.
Social media is not free. It costs attention, sleep, and emotional energy. Constant scrolling and comparison leave many athletes more anxious, more distracted, and less recovered than they realize.
High-level athletes protect their attention on purpose. They are not available to the world 24/7. They choose windows for social media instead of letting it run their day.
Healthier social media habits:
- No phone in bed or at practice
- App time limits, especially on school nights
- Follow accounts that educate or inspire, not drain
- Use social media in set blocks, not constantly
